Author Doug Cooper - A Poem: Just A Man I’m just a man, another John Doe, Longing for truth and to grow, Not content with taking things slow, Who wants to have vision and to know More of himself than his name, Who’s tired of playing the same old game Of being the one always to blame. Ask me again, and I’ll answer the same. I’m just a man searching for a light To lift me to my predestined height, And help me focus my clouded sight, So I can finally end this wretched fight, That I’ve been afraid from the start Of my life becoming tragic art. But I guess I’m just not that smart Because I still pull the same old cart. I’m just a man wandering the land, Exploring life with no great plan, Just on a quest to understand While the truth is directly in my hand. Someday I’ll fill my cup and then be through.
